    Advanced IF Functions

    Hello,

I am designing a spread sheet for our business which looks at how much of a commodity we have sold (percentage) and how much we have committed to sell across our 4 sub businesses. The percentage sold is then displayed on a report sheet.

I am trying to make a formula which looks at whether the commodity has been sold or if it has been committed to being sold. I want to be able to say that if a cell has an "S" in it, its been sold and goes in to the sold sell on the report, and if it has a "C" in it, its being committed to sell and goes into the committed to sell cell on the report sheet.

Does that make sense and how would I go about doing that?

    Hi,

Please mock up an example file showing before and after and we can look into this for you.

    regards

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Is there a way of uploading a mock file to you? I think this would be the easiest way for you to have a look.

    kind regards,

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on "Reply" then GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

Attach a sample workbook. (Not a picture!)
Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE (original) sheet and an AFTER (required output) sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate.
Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary. Remember, it should reflect original structure of your data.
    Remember to desensitize the data.
    Note:
    • Please do not attach password protected workbooks/worksheets
    • Please do not attach file(s) from exterior servers
    • Please do not attach file(s) with enabled any Workbook Open/Autorun macros!

20 rows of data is enough (probably)

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.
If link is not from FORUM server you have to wait until someone will want to watch the file from an external server.

You have sold items with no price per tonne, you would include by the logic above but have not in the example. What do you wish to do?

    Re: Advanced IF Functions

No, items sold with no price per tonne are in the category of committed (C) and are therefore waiting for a price to be agreed before going in to the sold category (S). If that makes sense?
