Conditional formatting with IF formulas

Hello all,

I am creating a room reference sheet. What I would like to do is when a cell has a certain value from one sheet I would like it to fill the corresponding cell on another sheet but not transfer the value of the origanall cell. For instance: if a cell has a value of ? then fill the corresponding cell on another sheet with green but but do not carry over the ? . Is this even possible? Here is what I thought would work.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Ben

Re: Conditional formatting with IF formulas

Hi Ben and welcome to the forum,

I think it is possible. See an example at: http://www.excelguru.ca/blog/2008/10...wo-worksheets/
I am concerned that you have a newer version of Excel but it looks like you do by your picture.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Hi, welcome to the forum

Conditional Formatting, as Marvin pointed out, is what you need to use for this.

1. highlight the range you want to apply the conditional formatting to
2. on the home tab, styles, select CF
3. select new rule, select use formula
4. enter =Sheet1!A2=5 (something like that- adjust to suite)
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
