Help! Need to get the average of the middle 80% of numbers in a column.

Hi All,

I have been trying to find a solution to this for the last day or so ussing trimmean and averageif without much luck.

I have a column about about 300 numbers where I need to find the average of the middle 80%. Why only the middle 80%? I need to remove some really high an really low anomalies to avoid a skewed result.

Can someone point me in the right direction with the formula?

Does the =TRIMMEAN() function work for you?

All the numbers i need the average of the middle 80% are in column J.

=TRIMMEAN(J:J,80)

This gives me the #num error.

Try =TRIMMEAN(range,0.2)
