Hello
I am trying to add a column to pivot table to show difference between two columns in the value field
it is made up of appended data extracted at different days
is there a way of doing it through DAX or pivot table calculations ?

Try
Go to Pivot option under tools->>>Formula->>>> Calculated Fields ->>>>Name ( put whatever name you want)->>>>Formula ->>> Select Qty and insert it into formula then ok.
Now in Pivot field list as I made field name Diff then go to Sum of Diff->>> click on Value field setting ->>> show value as ->>>> drag and select Difference from->>>Select base field As of->>>>base item Next then ok.
