Hello I'm lost with the filters.
I have this list as per the attached picture.
I have to find cells that contain 18

Use Filter > filter for dates > Custom > contains 18 > ok
and I found only:
ciao max 18
18 max max
5 ciao 18 1188
the two dates not find them.

Upload your worksheet so that we can see the entries
max, if those are real dates (cant tell, dont speak Italian), then you wont find 18 because it is not really there.
What you need to understand about dates and times in excel is...
a date is just a number representing the number of days passed since 1/1/900...and then formatted in a way that we recognize as a date. So, for instance, today (Wed Mar 2017) is actually 42816
Time is actually a decimal part of 1 (day), so 06:00 AM is 0.25, 12 noon is 0.5 and 18:00 (or 6 PM) is 0.75

Based on your sample, most of those entries are dates (see my post above regarding dates)
I think that the problem is as Fdibbins says, the problem of the cell format.

Yep, I guess so. Reads 18 December 2012 as 41261
Try this in a helper column, then filter on TRUE
=SUM(--ISNUMBER(FIND(18,F3)),IFERROR(--(DAY(F3)=18),0))>0
copied down
With a macro so you can?
I select the range > Macros > msgbox = 18 > ok

Why do you need this as a macro though?

I have attached a file that makes use of a helper column as Ford suggested with the formula mentioned in Post # 10 copied down.
You then filter the helper column for "True". This gives your required result.
