Removing blank lines from generated results

    Hello again you lovely people,

Please can you help make me look good.

I'm trying to develop a two stage questionnaire.

The User will initially answer 4 basic questions. Dependent upon how they answer those questions, they will be presented with further questions.

In the attached Workbook, there is a tab called "Preliminary Questions". When the user answers the questions in cells C1:C4 it generates a value in cell G17.

The value in this cell determines the questions that are generated within the Tab "Question Set Data".

For example, if the value in "Preliminary Questions" is 2 then only questions 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5 are required.

    However,

If the value in "Preliminary Questions" is 4 then all the questions except 11.7 and 11.8 are required.

Using a formula where I did something similar in a different workbook, I'm trying to put these values into the Tab called "Generated Question Set" and remove the blank lines. but it doesn't seem to like it.

    In the attached example

As it stands, the value generated in "Preliminary Questions" is 4
All the right questions are listed in the tab called "Question Set Data".
In the "Generated Question Set" tab, Question 5.1 is missing and although 11.7 and 11.8 aren't showing, there is a gap in rows 54 and 55 (which I'd like to get rid of).

I've included 5 "Example Condition n" tabs to reflect what I'd like to see as each condition is generated (At this stage, I'm not too precious about the sub header formatting). They won't be remaining once the solution is found.

I can't use macros as I'm not sure that the user will be permitted to run macros in their environment.

    Can anyone help please.

I'm surprised that you say you can't use macros, as the file that you have attached has a macro-enabled extension (.xlsm). Are there no macros in it?

Cool Re: Removing blank lines from generated results

I'm working on the 'in-house' Master as it were. The one that gets sent to users won't have macros.

    However ...

    and here's the good bit!

I managed to solve it using this formula

I've attached the solved spreadsheet in case anyone else has this problem ...

All I need to do now is try and work out if there's a way of auto-adjusting the row heights without any need for user interaction.

Good luck with that @MagicMan - see this bulletin from Microsoft - despite consisting of very few words, it strongly hints that you will not succeed

Yeah, good old Microsoft. Why would I want to see all my entries in a cell?

Oh, and it really makes sense to put everything at the bottom of the cell by default
