    Calculation of Electricity Consumption

I want to calculate the growth in Electricity Consumed from year 2016 to year 2062 for three conditions:
    1. When Energy Intensity remains constant at 0.271, then what should be the Electricity Consumed for year 2016 to 2062
    2. When Energy Intensity decreases to 20% of 0.271, i.e., 0.2168, then what should be the Electricity Consumed for year 2016 to 2062
    3. When Energy Intensity decreases to 35% of 0.271, i.e., 0.17615, then what should be the Electricity Consumed for year 2016 to 2062

    Re: Calculation of Electricity Consumption

Your spreadsheet is just a series of figures with no formulas.
How do you calculate the Electricity Consumed based on an the Energy Intensity?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

In cell "E2" mentioned criteria as : 0.46224
    In cell "F2" Formula :

    Re: Calculation of Electricity Consumption

I am very sorry for not stating the problem and formula clearly.
I am defining the problem clearly:
    Formula: (Energy Consumed)/GDP= Energy Intensity
I have uploaded a fresh excel sheet containing energy consumed, energy intensity and GDP for the year 1970 to 2015.
I have calculated the GDP growth of the year 2016 to year 2062 for three scenarios : GDP growth of 7.10%, 8% and 5.7% based on the year 2015
I have attached the sheet of GDP growth calculated for three scenarios for the year 2016 to 2062.....Please kindly check if the calculation of GDP Growth is
    is correct.
This calculated GDP for year 2016 to 2062 is to be considered for calculating the growth in Electricity Consumed from year 2016 to year 2062 for three conditions:

How much of this is a general math question and how much is an Excel specific question? From what I can see, it seems that the Excel programming part of this should be fairly easy and straightforward. The "difficult" part is the mathematics and economic/financial theories behind the problem that I don't understand and you have not explained.
I have attached the sheet of GDP growth calculated for three scenarios for the year 2016 to 2062.....Please kindly check if the calculation of GDP Growth is

It looks like you are assuming a basic "compound interest" exponential growth kind of model for the GDP [GDP(year)=GDP(year-1)*(1+r) where r is the annual growth rate]. I am not familiar with financial or economic theories, so, to me, this is as good of an assumption for your GDP function as any. IMO, this question would be better posed to an economist or financial analyst who has a better grasp of the theories and mathematics behind the behavior of GDP with time. You might try sending a PM to user joeu2004, who seems to have much better familiarity with financial and economic theory and may have a better idea if this is a suitable model for GDP.

I have similar questions about the other half of the question -- what should the function for energy intensity look like? Do you want an "exponential decay" type model similar to your GDP model [EI(year)=EI(year-1)*(1-r) where r is the annual rate of decrease, and you need to figure out what r should be so that you get 20% or 35% or whatever total% decrease in energy intensity]? Or do you want a linear change in EI [EI(year)=EI(year0)*(year-year0)/46*(0.8)]? Or some other function of year? Again, it seems to me that there should be some accepted throey among economists and those who study power consumption as to what form this function should take.

Once you have a good feel for what your GDP=f(year) and EI=g(year) should look like, energy consumption is simply f(year)*g(year) for each year you want to calculate.
