Nested IF Function Help - Trying to Summarize Survey Data

    Hi everyone,

Maybe I am getting hung up on the nested IF function, but I am trying to organize my patient satisfaction survey data by physician, so that I can provide each physician their own set of informational graphs to look at by question. I might be going at this completely inefficiently, but I am not familiar with how to do this!

I have a question - say, "Do you have Medicare?" and it pulls in Yes and No for the answers. Each physician is listed out so we can see how many patients have Medicare for each one. I attempted to use the following formula: =IF('Form Responses 1'!$A:$A=Medicare!B2,(COUNTIF('Form Responses 1'!$B:$B,Medicare!$A$3))) where 'Form Responses 1'!$A:$A is the compiled answers to the drop down question, "What physician is seeing you today?" The next Medicare!B2 is the physician name criteria. Then if the physician name matches up, I want to count the number of "Yes" responses in the Medicare question results.

I'll attach the sheet, but I am trying to figure out if the physician's name matches, return the information to tell me how many of each answer type there are for each question.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You should be using Pivot Tables for this analysis. See attached.

If this is your first exposure to them please don't be put off. They are actually very easy to create and they give you a very powerful tool for quickly seeing different views of your data with lots of statistical analysis should it ever be needed.

An hour or so spent watching YouTube videos and reading articles about them will pay dividends.

Thank you! I had been using a pivot table, but it wasn't coming out the way I wanted it to - but it worked wonderfully for you! I will try to watch the YouTube videos so I can become more proficient with them.
