    Sort Data using Formulas

    Hi,

I have managed to extract the data and display by date selection but not sure on how to do multiple sorting

Would like to seek your assistance on how to sort a data using formulas.

    1) Sch Start, LOB, Ticket no when date is selected
    2) on the calendar, sort by LOB (Col X) and application name (Col Z) when month is selected

    Attached file is the example.

It is up to you, of course.
    first i'd the following:
work with dates from the start
calculate row no just once for a row.

all is done in the attachment

    Re: Sort Data using Formulas

    Hi Tim

I have tested the formula. When date range selected from 6/1/17 to 7/1/17, the first record appeared as 5/1/17 which should not appear and the last record of 7/1/17 is missing. However the date ranged selected is correctly displayed.

I also would like to multiple auto-sort by Dept and Ticket no as well.
On the other side at the calendar area, I need to sort another set by Dept and Application.

Attached is the test data to review. Thank you.

    Re: Sort Data using Formulas

    Hi Tim,

I have tested the formula again. The formula is really simplified which I didn't thought about it. Thank you.

But when date range is selected from 5/1/17 to 5/1/17, the first record of 5/1/17 is missing and an additional record of 6/1/17 which should not be appearing.

Try making the following modification (highlighted in red) to the array entered formula* in A19 and down.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

*Remember to reactivate the formula by simultaneously pressing the Ctrl, Shift and Enter keys before copying down.

    Re: Sort Data using Formulas

The issue isn't with the formula in column A rather the formulas in columns B:S. Since the formula in column A returns the row number the other formulas can use that value as the row_num argument in the INDEX function. An example would be:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
Attached is a copy of the file with the formulas referencing the row value in column A.
