How can I set default date format in excel?

We have a single worksheet to enter report for our team members, but they are entering the date in unformatted. How can I restrict it?

My default and required format is: 08-05-2017. But members are entering like 08/05/2017, 08.05.2017.

How can I block or convert to my default format automatically?

    Thanks in advance.
    Sudhakar.

Excel read date format as per your system date format.... You have to change your system date format... By this way system will automatically show in excel dates as per your requirement.

Then you must prevent the cell through drop down...

    Have a look at http://www.excel-easy.com/examples/r...lid-dates.html

Re: How can I set default date format in excel?

    Dear sudbhavani : 08-05-2017 & 08/05/2017
Above both are same - & / does not matter.

Yes 08.05.2017 this is a not date format. In this case select respective complete column, select "Data Validation"
    >In Allow : Select "Date"
    >In Data : Select "greater than
    >In start Date : Enter 01/01/1900
In this case 08.05.2017 cell is restricted.
