# Changing Average Percentage While Keeping Some Numbers Constant

1. ## Changing Average Percentage While Keeping Some Numbers Constant

Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if someone can help me in a big way. I have a current formula that looks like this =((F10×0.1)+(G10×0.15)+(H10×0.15)+(I10×0.15)+(J10×0.15))×(100÷70) But I need it to look like this =((F10×0.1)+(G10×0.10)+(H10×0.10)+(I10×0.10)+(J10×0.10)+(K10x0.10)+(L10x0.10))×(100÷70) because some genius changed our grading scale halfway through the semester. Is there any way I can keep the former numbers but randomly assign values to the extra two criteria to equal the same amount? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Waychild - Welcome

Try putting the 0.10 in say cell A1 and 100/70 in cell A2 the formula required is =Sum(F10:L10)*A1*A2, if A1 and A2 are occupied put them somewhere else and change formula accordingly.

I believe that the following formula will yield the value that needs to be entered into K10 (L10 may be left blank) so that the result of the first equation equals that of the second:
