    Calculating Discount Price

    Hi,

I'm trying to calculate the discount price a Sales Exec can offer to clients and I'm finding it really hard!

My spreadsheet is here - http://imgur.com/a/ZjSqm

The top left hand table is working as a Vlookup to calculate the Rate Card price and that's working fine.

What I need to calculate is the Discount Price. This would be (Rate Card Price * No. Of Job Boards) - % in bottom right table.

    Can anybody help with this?

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum!

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Re: Calculating Discount Price

Effectively, if the number of job boards in the yellow field says 3 or 4, the discount price should be the rate card price - 5%.

If the number of job boards in the yellow field says 5 or more, the discount price should be the rate card price - 10%.

    Re: Calculating Discount Price

So if the number of vacancies was 0, 1 or 2, the discount price would be £175. If the number of vacancies was 3 or 4, the discount price would be £166.25. If the number of vacancies was 5 or more, the discount price would be £157.50.

    OK. Try this:

    =H9*LOOKUP(H7,{0,3,5},{1,0.95,0.9})
