I'm trying again. Can anyone think of a simple formula to create a list from a table? I have attached a sample of what I am trying to achieve. Thank you.

I would be inclined to use helper columns.
In columns K:L locate the row and column numbers.Formula:Please Login or Register to view this content.Formula:Please Login or Register to view this content.
Then group them in columns M:N.Formula:Please Login or Register to view this content.Formula:Please Login or Register to view this content.
The final output formulaFormula:Please Login or Register to view this content.

Another way ... fewer helper columns ... calculates slower.
In column KFormula:Please Login or Register to view this content.
In column L array entered. If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.Formula:Please Login or Register to view this content.
Then the final formulaFormula:Please Login or Register to view this content.
Thank you, works perfectly.
To which post(s) is that addressed?
FlameRetired, your formula does the trick but one question... your results display the next player in each row. ie: column 2 (smith), 4 (johnson), 2 (Jones), 8 (hill), 10 (painter). Is there a way to display the data by column? In other words, 2 (smith), 2 (jones), 4 (johnson), 8 (hill), 10 (painter)? I appreciate your help.
Try this.
In column N the new helper formula isin column M the new formula is array entered. If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.Formula:Please Login or Register to view this content. The final formula is the same as before.Formula:Please Login or Register to view this content.Formula:Please Login or Register to view this content.
