Parsing cell value into table reference

    Hi,

I have a formula in a cell that checks a cell value in a table in the State field (in this case the value is ACT). I then do a calculation counting the business days and including public holidays listed in another table under the field with a name that matches the state (ACT). Is there a way to include the cell value of ACT within the formula so I don't have to do nested IFs testing for all valid states?

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Probably, but we're going to need an uploaded Excel workbook (no pics or screenshots ... it save retyping data.)

If you aren't familiar with how to do this.

To attach a file to your post,
    • be sure to desensitize the data
    • click “Go Advanced” (next to Post Quick Reply – bottom right),
    • scroll down until you see “Manage Attachments”, click that,
    • click “Browse”.
    • select your file(s)
    • click “Upload”
    • click “Close window”
    • click “Submit Reply”

The file name will appear at the bottom of your reply.

Hi all- I think this is what you're after. Paste in K2:

It uses INDEX(MATCH()) to find the appropriate column in your tbl_PH.

Re: Parsing cell value into table reference

Follow-up question. Can I use this method if I have the public holiday table stored on a closed separate spreadsheet?

I don't know much about remote references and linked cells, other than they're tricky to maintain.
