    Email colomn question

Our club has a spreadsheet using ms excel .xls and has a column dedicated to email addresses.
Typing in this column changes font, size and color. When touching an item in this column a mailto
page pops up from outlook, that I don't even use.
This column has been formatted to do this and I would like to change it to a regular column, same font, size and color as the
rest of the spreadsheet. I have tried doing this and have been unsuccessful and has just reverted back.
Can someone please point me to the procedure to unlock this column.
    Many thanks.

    Re: Email colomn question

Thanks Tim, Everything in that and other sites I've checked end up loosing the text.
I'm using Excel 2007 and have read that there is no procedure that you wont loose the text.
I have one column that contains emails and need to remove hyperlinks.
Would like to hear if anyone that has done this.
    Many thanks...

    Re: Email colomn question

Excel 2007 doesn't allow, to my knowledge the ability of deleting a hypertext structure in a column without deleting your text.

    [solved]
Copy the column and Paste it in Word Pad (will not accept the hypertext formula just the text).
Delete the Hypertexted column in Excel and Insert a blank column back .
Copy the text in Word Pad and Paste in the new column in Excel and presto.
Worked perfectly. Hope this helps someone.
