    Post Standard deviation - New average

    Hello Guys

    I have one problem is about calculating average according standard devitation. I have several results, where I need to cut out the results outside the standard devitation "line". I'm trying to use average and countif but it doesnt work for me
    The basic calculation principle is to find if the value is in SD range if not use False / 0 and with averageif ignore "zero" results. I've also tried a countif but it's still not working for me.

    Can you help me please why this average did not work in formula?

    I would like to use only one formula without additional cells.

    See more in worksheet.

    Thank you for any help

    Kind regards
    Andrej

    Re: Standard deviation - New average

    Is this what you wanted: an array formula:

    =AVERAGE(IF(E6:L6>=(AVERAGE(E6:L6)-J11),IF(E6:L6<=(AVERAGE(E6:L6)+J11),E6:L6)))

    Array Formulae are a little different from ordinary formulae in that they MUST be confirmed in the FIRST CELL ONLY by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER. After that, the array can be dragged down as normal, to cover the desired range.

    You will know the array is active when you see curly brackets { } - or "curly braces" for those of you in the USA, or "flower brackets" for those of you in India - appear around the outside of your formula. If you do not use CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will (almost always) get an error message or an incorrect answer. Press F2 on that cell and try again.

    Don't type the curly brackets yourself - it won't work...

    Not awake yet...

    Use this instead:

    =AVERAGEIFS(E6:K6,E6:K6,">="&(AVERAGE(E6:K6)-J11),E6:K6,"<="&(AVERAGE(E6:K6)+J11))

    Re: Standard deviation - New average

    Im sorry .. See updated sheet.

    Result is 192,6. It is average from 5 not 7 results.
    Also for my future work I will work with much more results and differences between averages will be much more.

    I had assumed that you wanted the data based on the columns labelled as "Result", not of unalbelled ones way off to the right.
