I would recommend a basic introduction to percent problems tutorial -- maybe this one: http://www.purplemath.com/modules/percntof.htm

should be simple but am I miss something?
I cannot understand what you are trying to do in your spreadsheet. Your first row shows:
200 -- 10 -- 20%
What is the relationship between these three numbers? The closest relationship I can see is 20 is 10% of 200 (20=0.1*200) or maybe 20 is 200% of 10 (20=2*10), but those don't really fit.
I think what you are missing is still the basic arithmetic concept of percent. As explained in the tutorial,I cannot see how your examples fit into this basic English or math sentence, so I think what you are missing is how to translate your examples into the basic concepts of percent.Originally Posted by purplemath

This is so basic that I am going to be stubborn and make you figure this out for yourself. If you put your last post (what is 10% of 200?) into purplemath's statement that I quoted (this is some percent of that), then translate into an algebra statement, what do you get (hint -- when the problem is solved, you should get one of the two algebra statements I wrote in post #5)?
