    Weighted percentage

    Hi,

    I have the following headings:
    - practice size : let's say 7,800
    - respondents : let's say 13
    - people who would recommend a service: 11 - meaning 85%
    - people who wouldn't recommend a service: 0
    - people who said neither: 2

How do I adjust my percentages (85%) such that they reflect the practice size? (each practice has a different size).

    Thank you

    Re: Weighted percentage

Hi and welcome to the forum,

How does the practice size change the % of respondents who would recommend? i.e.
What % would you expect for two practices, one with 7800 and the other with 3900, both with 85% of their own respondents recommending?

    Re: Weighted percentage

I'm not clear what results you are expecting to see...

By taking a percentage, you have normalised the result: based on responses obtained: 85/100 people are happy and contented. What would you expect to see, in addition to that??

    Re: Weighted percentage

    Hi Glenn,

Perhaps my question should have related to the graphical representation of this- how we can represent the data in order to also take into account different sizes of each practice (rather than a simple boxplot showing the 85% etc.) ? After doing a bit of research it seems a funnel plot would be the best way? Can you advise on the steps to do that with this type of data and how to interpret it best? thank you

If a funnel plot is your preferred method of presentation then check out this site which explains the steps you need to take.
