Convert barcode into content automatically?

Hello all,

I am looking to use excel as an inventory tool. I would love to scan a barcode, and excel automatically looks up the item and transposes the results into another field so I have information about the product beyond a simple barcode.

With smartlookup, it is able to look up the barcodes and tell me the product, but is there anyway to get that done within the sheet itself?

If this is not possible, are there any sites, apps, or whatever that is able to do this?

Typically the barcode in Excel is just a font. If you have that value elsewhere (like on another sheet with corresponding info) its just a lookup using the scanned barcode as the lookup value.

If your using an addin for the barcodes (I have no idea what smartlookup is) then you may not be able to do this and should refer to the add-in creator.

I apologize, I should have made this clear:
When I scan a barcode, it shows up in a cell as the numbers. For example: 8441710053

When you right click on a cell, there is smartlookup. It will search the web for what you put in this cell, and show you results. I would like those results in a cell automatically
