    Question Dynamic closed workbook reference

    Hi guys,

    I am trying to reference a cell in a closed workbook. So far so good. This works perfectly with fixed references like this:

    I would like to be able to build this formula without the use of indirect to reference the month based on the worksheet name like so:

    Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

    My issues is the interpretation of strings, I think. When using the ampersand, the formula is not being interpreted correctly.

    Re: Dynamic closed workbook reference

    You have to use the INDIRECT() Function so you can refer to a variable, it's the filename that needs to be referenced
    in VBA WorksheetFunction.Indirect()

    In the German formula syntax it's INDEX()

    I think you are referring to "INDIREKT" which is the German synonym for "INDIRECT". INDEX works differently. Unfortunately I don't want to use a dynamic formula. Sorry, should have mentioned this in the initial post.
