Show event with date range on calendar

Hello anyone and everyone - I am new to learning all the stuff that Excel can do (which is way more than I thought). I've tried searching all over for an answer, and have taken pieces from this and that, but I'm missing something and don't know what.

So, I had a task of making a calendar from a spreadsheet and populating that calendar with the events that are listed with the corresponding dates and date ranges, and some of the dates have multiple events.

I have the calendar down (it's perpetual if anyone was wondering) and it's working great... but I only have some events appearing. By some I mean that it appears that the first event listed on a date will pop up, and only sometimes will a second event show with the same date - sometimes it's listed as the same event above it, and sometimes it's the same event as a previous day.

It would be great to have a push/guidance on what I need to clean up to make sure that second and third events posted are what's happening on that day, and also on events that cover a range of days.

I've attached what I'm working on, and it can probably be seen in the first full week of November 2017 of what I'm saying.

If this has been answered somewhere else, I apologize and hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Hi Whitesell. Welcome to the forum.

If you are not aware of it already the lookup functions find only the first instance of lookup_value it finds in table_array. To return multiple instances you will need an array formula (or maybe helper columns).

If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.

Try array entering this formula in B13 of 'Calendar (2) and fill down to B17. Then fill across to column H. You will have to repeat for each week. Note the absolute row reference for day. It permits copying one formula all referencing the same row#.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Oh, okay. I knew it was something that I just didn't know.

I'll go read up on array-entered formulas, so I can at least understand it and not just copy and paste it, because I'm not familiar with them.

I appreciate the help very much Dave, thanks. I think (hopefully) that this was the guidance I needed.

Good deal. Encouraging self study is what this forum is about!!

To aid and abet your efforts ... if you are not already aware of it ... there is a feature called Evaluate formula (Fx). Stepping through a solution using Fx is one of the best devices for trouble shooting formulas and self study. I encourage it's use whenever I can.

Thank you for the feedback and rep.

If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED. Thanks.
