    Wins and loss subtotals

    I am new to the website, which looks great and helped a lot until now, I have a problem finding a formula to sum subtotals of strikes of WINS and LOSS separated by series of blank cells.

    In column A: WINS and LOSS series including blank cell containing a "-"

    In Column B: The desired result is shown as the subtotal of WINS and LOSS partial stikes.

    Needed: a formula to obtain the results shown in column B.

    Thanks for any helpful tip!

    Hello and welcome to the forum.

    I don't understand the logic. Can you explain why B7 should be 2, why B14 should be 2, etc.

    Re: Wins and loss subtotals

    Sure,

    A3 + A6 = 2 ( in B7 there is the subtotal of 2 consecutive WINS )

    A8 + A13 = 2 ( in B14 you find the subtotal of 2 consecutive LOSS )

    A17 = 1 ( in B18 the subtotal of one single WIN )

    A20 = 1 ( in B21 the subtotal of one single LOSS )

    I hope that is clear now

    Thanks for the interests! Can you suggest a suitable solution?

    Oh well, at least you didn't call it "rococo". In truth, that is one kludgy formula, so positionally bound that it makes me ITCH... generally an indication that the data could be better-arranged.

    Well, it worked well, thanks again!

    That formula just helped me to close a one-year long project on a financial analysis sft!
