    automatically move information from one column to another when criteria reached

    Hello,

    I hope that you can help.

    I need to try and set up something that will move information from one column to another, after a specified date has passed - I have attached a spreadsheet extract to this post to assist:

    Column A shows the current year
    Column B is not important - this records Purchase Orders (POs) that are approved
    Column C shows situations where we might raise a purchase order (PO) but have a (currently) managed low risk or a high risk (shown by LR or HR - via a drop down menu)
    Column D shows the date that the risk must be resolved by (mmm-yy format)
    Column E is to show issues that haven't been resolved by the date in Column D
    Column F will give a new resolution date,
    Column G will show cases when POs are blocked.

    Ideally, when there is an issue recorded in column C, IF it is not resolved by the date in Column D, the information in Column C moves to Column E, and in Column F the resolution date amends (e.g. if initial date for managed condition is Jan-18, when it moves to Column F the date changes to Feb - 18).
    Then when the second date is not met, it changes it so the PO is now blocked, and it puts a YES in column G - removing information from other columns.

    is this even possible?? I hope that this makes sense.

    Thanks in advance for your help with this one. I have no clue where to even start!

    Jen

    Re: automatically move information from one column to another when criteria reached

    To ensure my understanding:

    on row 5

    E5=C5

    F5=D5 =1 month

    C5 & D5 cleared ???

    and if G5="yes" i.e second date not met, then B5:D5=blank

    You will VBA (code) to do this (to clear the cells as required).

    Hi John,

    Yes, that is what I would like to do - VBA code you say...hmmmm, never used it before, so something new to learn.

    Would I need to repost this somewhere else on this forum?

    Thanks for your assistance so far - nice to know that it could be done.

    Thanks

    Jen

    There is the VBA/Macro forum: moderator could move your post for you.

    Equally, you may get a VBA solution from this forum.
