Wildcard search and return multiple rows

    Hey!

My supervisor has asked me to create multiple reports using a streamlined method in excel. This would involve pulling data from a source CSV and placing it in the respective reports using as little formatting as possible. The only information to reference the information I need for the report is the ID number which has 16 digits with the first 9 identifying the individual institution.

In short, the function must match the first 9 digits and return multiple rows of data in full.

Hi JahSon, welcome to the forum! The Report worksheet in the attached workbook generates a column with row numbers corresponding to the records of interest. The remaining fields are then populated by indexing the applicable ROW and HEADER.

First of all I suggest that you import the CSV file using the Data Ribbon. This should give you the opportunity to define each type of data by column. If you copy / paste the CSV file in, Excel might see the long string of numbers in Column C and "help you out" by converting it to scientific notation. So you'l' get 50000545E06. This looks like something that could be solved with a helper column and a pivot table.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
