    circular reference issues

hi, i am trying to import data from one excel sheet to another based on the date. One of the files is dynamic and changes/overwritten daily, therefore the date changes and the values are replaced. The problem i am having is keeping the data in the target spreadsheet once the date changes. Everything i try gives me a circular reference. I am opening the files and updating using a batch file so enabling the iterative calculation in the options wont cure it. Below is a sample of the calculation i am using in one of the cells: =IF(A19='daily exports30.csv'!$C$5,'daily exports30.csv'!$B$49,AY19). AY19 = the cell with the calculation in to ensure its saved when the date changes. I have no experience with macros or VB so im struggling. can anyone help????

you would be easier posting a sample but you can not have a formula reference itself. if you put the formula in a cell that wasn't ay19 it would probably work, otherwise it just goes round in circles

in az19 put the same formula and it should work

im not sure i understand how moving the formular would work. How does the sheet save the data from the specific day if the import data sheet has been overwritten without referencing its self?

As I said posting a sample would get you a better response, quoting one formula and us not seeing the process, makes it difficult to answer
Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

    Cross-posted

Your post does not comply with Rule 8 of our Forum Rules: Do not crosspost your question on multiple forums without including links here to the other threads on other forums.

Cross-posting is when you post the same question in other forums on the web. The last thing you want to do is waste people's time working on an issue you have already resolved elsewhere. We prefer that you not cross-post at all, but if you do (and it's unlikely to go unnoticed), you must provide a link (copy the url from the address bar in your browser) to the cross-post.

Read this to understand why we ask you to do this, and then please edit your first post to include links to any and all cross-posts in any other forums (most other forums have the same rule).
