What function can be used for formatting with VLOOKUP

    Hello,

I have a IF statement with a VLOOKUP in Workbook B that looks to Workbook A and it works fine. However, if I try to emphasize information using a different font color or Bold Text, it does not carry over. Is there a way to make this happen using another function

    Formulas can't set cell formats.

    Conditional Formatting perhaps?
Depends under what conditions you want to highlight the result

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Re: What function can be used for formatting with VLOOKUP

What I am trying to achieve is the following.

I enter data in workbook A. If I should make the font red and/or bold, I would like for it to display the same way in Workbook B when the VLOOKUP gets the data.

    Thanks

Formulas cant read the formats of cells, you need VBA for that so this thread should really be in the VBA section

Thanks for the reply. If I need to use VBA I will revisit this when I have more time. I have very limited knowledge of VBA.

The only way that you could get around using VBA for this would be if there was some logic as to why the data in workbook A was formatted the way that it was.

If that logic existed, you can create a Conditional Formatting formula that highlights the data in workbook B using that logic.
