Month Function When Nested inside Text returns incorrect Month Serial Number

When I try to nest in the Month Function inside the Text Function as shown below, the formula gives me a Month Serial number of - 1

Reference Date : 04/30/2018 (in Cell A1)

Function:

Text(Month(A1),"MM") = Result "01"

Instead I am expecting the formula to give me - "04"

Any help is appreciated !

=text(a1,"mm")
