If I have cell A1 and the value is $500. I want A2 to turn red if it is over $500 but turn Green if it is under $500. But I may have 26 columns and row 1 may be a different number each time. So any time Row 2 is over Row 1 I want it red and any time the value in row 2 under row 1, I want it to turn green.
go to conditional formatting >> new rule >> use formula to determine which cells to format >> enter formula =A2<A1 and select fill color you want (green), then add new rule and enter =A2>A1 and select fill color you want (red). Then look at them again and make sure you remove any dollar signs from the formulas. Then either drag right or use the format painter to put the conditional formatting across the row where you want.
