COUNTIF showing as text

Hello everyone,

You see my problem is that I have this formula:

=COUNTIF(Sheet2!H9:H289, A2)

Apparently there's nothing wrong with it, but when I enter this, it doesn't calculate anything and return it as text (is showed like it is).

What I'm trying to do it is find the number of times the text value in A2 is repeated in the column H from row 9 to 289 in another sheet.

Be sure the number type on the HOME tab is set to "General", or "Number". Not TEXT. Then, in the formula bar, press "enter" after your formula to accept and it'll calculate.
