Referencing an individual selection from a drop down list

I have a table of data that is dynamic based on a drop down list, so when a different item is selected the data changes. I would like to have another sheet that summarizes the data in the table across all selections. Attached is a workbook that is not the exact data I am working on, but just to show what my problem is. In cell A2 of the "drop down" sheet I have the drop down list. On the "summary" tab is where I am having the issue. I would like to fill that table out, and cannot figure out what function to use to do so. Let me know if you need more clarification of the problem, thank you all for your help.

Well, I don't see any reason for the summary report to depend on the dropdown sheet. Just copy the SUM & AVERAGE formulas over. You can have s chart that shows all three categories at the same time or, alternatively, one that only shows one category based on the dropdown...

Just to add - there is nothing magical about a drop down (Data Validation). It is exactly the same as if you had typed the entry in manually, the only differences being that a DD can save you some typing, help avoid typos and help restrict entry to only a specified "list". Other than that, there is basically no difference. You would refer to it in formulas etc the exact same way as if you were referencing a manually entered cell

Hi jrgiacchino. Welcome to the forum.

If I interpret correctly you've almost got it.

    In B2 of 'summary'
    Formula: copy to clipboard

and fill down. In C2 likewise
    Formula: copy to clipboard
