I need a function like VLOOKUP that retruns a cell address

VLOOKUP returns the value of a cell pursuant to the inputs within the function. Is there an equivalent function that returns a cell address instead of the value within?

I am trying to design a flexible way to find the standard deviation of a range with the easy ability to change the beginning and end point for comparisons. I had hoped this formula would have done the trick:

    =STDEV(OFFSET(VLOOKUP (t5,full,3),( VLOOKUP (t4,full,2)- VLOOKUP (t5,full,2)),0, VLOOKUP (t5,full,3))

However, it does not work, and I now realize it is because the first VLOOKUP (just after the OFFSET function) is returning the value within the cell, and I was looking to insert the cell address.

Is there a different function that will accomplish what I am trying to do?

Use Match function to return row #? From your formula it looks like column is fixed.

If you need further help, I'd recommend uploading sample file.

Upload it by using "Go Advanced" button found at bottom right of Edit/Quick Reply menu. Find "Manage Attachments" hyperlink and click on it, it will launch new tab/window.
