    Problem in Calculation

    Hi,

    Please help me to solve the formula on 3 columns (column J, K, L). i tried to solve but i can't.

    Column J = If Monthly Gross is < 40000 then the formula is applicable
    Column K = If Monthly Gross is < 40000 then the formula is applicable
    Column L = If Monthly Gross is >= 40000 then the formula is applicable

    monthly gross is available in column N, isn't it?

    YOUR SHEET HAVE CIRCULAR REFERENCES
    SUCH THAT IN MONTHLY GROSS COLUMN N formula is =SUM(F4:M4)

    you can enable circular references by
    select File---> options----> formula-----> check ENABLE ITERATIVE calculation

    Is your logiccorrect:

    in the File posted in #5 you get from a basic of 14000 to gross of over 51000 which is in a large part due to "iterative nature" of the gross calculation (SUM(Ff$:M4). the latter includes the allowance in L4.

    Without L4 the Gross would be 29,200 and surely the L4 calculation should be based on this (as should those in J and K) ????
