How to Pull and Sum Data From Another Spreadsheet Based on a Date Range

    Hi,

I'm currently creating some spreadsheets for a restaurant and I'm stuck for formula. On the first sheet I have many rows that will have daily entries on the money coming into the business. I then have an overview sheet which I want to pull and sum the data from the first sheet between the dates entered at the top of the page.

I'd then also need to know how to calculate 'Total Per Person' and 'Total Per Day (Average)' as these are also based on the numbers entered on the other sheet and between the selected date range.

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks in advance,
    George.

    Welcome to the Forum georgegreenhal3!

Your problem is pretty straightforward but it will be much easier to just put a solution into your file than to try to reproduce what you are doing from scratch. Please attach the Excel file. It's easier than taking a screenshot first and then attaching that.

My apologies on behalf of the Forum but the paper clip icon does not work for attachments. Instead, under the text box where you type your reply click the Go Advanced button. On the next screen scroll down and click on Manage Attachments, which will show a pop-up window to Select and Upload a file. Then close the window.

I think you can solve this using sumifs... I guess its not difficult task and more over in "Expenditure" worksheet please use 1 cell to use date instead of using 3 cell

I've done the income as an example. There is no sample data so you will want to double check the figures once you add some data. The average assumes that the period includes the full start day and full end day.

I do not know how you want to calculate "total per person." You have two columns with number of people. Do you want to add both of those together to determine the total number of people, and divide the total income by that?

Merging cells is usually not a good practice. You should reconsider whether you really need your dates in C2:C3 to span more than a single cell.
