Conditional format or some formula to fill in Yes when you only type y and No for n

When I have spoken to a named person for the guest list and I type y in Column E and / or Column F it should fill in Yes and No for n

Conditional format or some formula to fill in Yes when you only type y and No for n

It seems what I have done only works when the top row it says yes then it follows with yes but not for No. but when I delete all it does not work

Can you give some specific examples of what values you type in specific cells and what you expect to see and where.
It's not at all clear to me at the moment how you are using this.

Re: Conditional format or some formula to fill in Yes when you only type y and No for n

I am inviting people for a party and when I have spoken to an individual I write their name and contact number and in the column E and F when I have spoken to then I want to type y to fill in Yes and type n for No.

I somehow got it working for yes (only few rows) but not for “No”

    Thankyou

Conditional formats can't change what's in a cell. All they can do is change what the cell looks like or displays

You appear to be using the autofill functionaility. This is usually used to suggest words as you type the characters.
However this requires there to be a list of allowable words, in your case yes and no in cells that are contiguous with the cells you want to complete.
So for instance you could add a new row one and in E1 enter yes and in E2 enter no. Now when you enter y in E5 it will prompt you to accept the wor yes.

Note however if D5 & E5 was blank and you entered y in E6 you would not be prompted with 'yes' because there is not a contiguous range of non balank cells between E6 & E1

Your other option is to use a VBA Sheet Change macro which could enter yes when y is input.
