Excel compare 2 columns/lists for differences or unique values

    Hello,

In the attached spreadsheet, column A will be the prior month data always being dropped in as paste values. I will then drop the current month (new) data into column C. There will be more lines in column C every time for numbers that were added. I am looking for a formula so that I can do a conditional formatting to highlight and easily identify quickly what numbers are new and not in column A. Can someone please help?

    Thanks!

With both columns selected simply click on conditional formatting - highlight cell rules - and then select duplicate values.

I have attached spreadsheet with that enabled.

    Is this what you needed?

Ninja edit: If you want to show just the unique cells you can go back into the Conditional Formatting Rules and change it it highlight just unique values instead of highlighting all duplicates.

    Hi Hoover,

Select columns A and B. Click on CF Icon and select Highlight Cells Rules of Duplicate Values. Anything that isn't highlighted is what you want.

I agree with cjs above but fell into the same trap. Some of the values in the A column alone are duplicate. This then invalidates my method.

You need to select UNIQUE values from the CF dropdowns.
