Subtract one month from an abbreviated 3 character mont name

Is there a way to subtract one month from an abbreviated 3 character month name. For example, I have a March column identified as Mar and I want to subtract Month so that it is displayed as Feb. Is there a way to do that. Its not a full date, just 3 character text displayed month.

    Thank you for checking.

    Hi there,

If Cell A1 contains the text value "Mar", then the following formula will display "Feb":

    Hope this helps.

@Greg M: neat solution … and you can drag it across, even changing year. I failed miserably with the year change
