    Help Simplifying a Formula

Is there any way to simplify the following formula?

    PHP Code:
    =IF(SUBTOTAL(4,INDIRECT("AK"&MATCH([NewIndex]-([NewIndex]-1),AL:AL,0)):INDIRECT("AK"&MATCH([NewIndex]-1,AL:AL,0)))>[ConcatWavePart],"YES","-"
This formula compares the cell to every cell above to see if there is a cell value greater than the current cell. If there is such a value it is labeled YES. This takes place in every cell of a filtered list. The list changes frequently which is why the new index is needed.

The formula works fine, it just runs very slowly.

What is not working for you? In what way does the formula need changing? Is it running slowly? If so, consider limiting the ranges (e.g. AL:AL).

The formula runs as needed, however, it is very slow. What would I limit the ranges to? The range changes frequently , so there is not an exact known value for the last cell in the list.

Make the ranges just as long as they need to be (e.g. AL$2:AL$5000).
