Match from numbers in a text string

Hi there, my first post here
Here is my problem I am looking for help with.

How can I match the number in row B, based on only looking up values with same group Nr, guess that will be combining A&B, and get the first match in D, and second in E from row C,
AD values excluded. What I want to see is put in D

    A B C D
    Group Nr
    1 111: 954112 0000 or 955112 0000 + 044112 0500 + xxx
    1 222: 954112 0000 or 955112 0000 + 954312 0000 xxx + 044112 0500 + xxx
    1 333 L/R: 954112 0000 or 955112 0000 + 045112 1500 + xxx
    1 444: 954112 0000 or 955112 0000 + 954312 0000 xxx
    1 954312 0000 xxx 222 (Lineshift) &"or " 444
    1 954112 0000 xxx 111 (Lineshift) &"or " 222 (Lineshift) &"or " 333 (Lineshift) &"or " 444
    1 955112 0000 xxx 111 (Lineshift) &"or " 222 (Lineshift) &"or " 333 (Lineshift) &"or " 444
    1 yyy
    2 0007 04G xxx

    Hope and thx in advance

Attach a workbook will be easier.

Go Advanced -> Manage Attachments -> Upload

then you've done something wrong... Try again...

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Maybe now I hope. Guess I need to clarify that the or in row D is not a formula but should be text "or" and with a linebreak

Can you show us EXACTLY what results you expect to see. I am not clear what column D means...

Amend and repost your sheet (it worked perfectly second time round).

Re: Match from numbers in a text string

Here it is again, hope this explain what I need. Line F is the result, I only made 1 example but should be repeated down. By (new line) I mean line break if that is possible

    Thx

This isn't enough. We need to see a pattern. You need more than one example - 8-10 examples would be better.

You know what you want - we don't. We are not mind readers, and your sample data is insufficient for us to divine what your thought processes are - sorry.

Re: Match from numbers in a text string

Hi there, I hope I do better now explaining what I need your help for, here we go

    1. In column F, I would like to have the text where there is kW in column H based on the group number in column G, that works if there is only 2 rows filled out in the column H now, but not if there are more, may I refer to row 183 and forward
    2. What I need in column N is either items just below them with "Choose from following tail pipe package:" or column S in only cells that have a number in K. My problem with that is this again based on the group number in G and the number of rows there is not the same, same example is in row 183 and forward. Maybe there is a better solution to find the text in column S too, and it seems that CHAR(10) not work for line shift
    3. Is it possible to highlight the firs part of the combined text in column S till the first : as they are the describing the choices there, and after each line shift ?
    Thx in advance

Re: Match from numbers in a text string

We have now gone from the sublime to the ridiculous, and I am, frankly, none the wiser. I have absolutely no clue from the workbook now attached or your description of what you are trying to do. I asked for 8-10 sets of sample data and hoped for a clear indication (manually mocked up) in the workbook of what you are aiming for.

Sorry, but we are no further forward.

Re: Match from numbers in a text string

    How about this file then

Made a mistake in the attached file, in there is

L is made from the text in J4 to J7 based on the numbers in there corresponding to numbers in column I

    should be

M is made from the text in J4 to J7 based on the numbers in there corresponding to numbers in column I

No, not doing it for me, sorry. I'll back out and leave this to someone who can make something out of it. I'm sorry I couldn't help this time.

Re: Match from numbers in a text string

AliGW, thanks for your patience with me and bear with me please.
What it essentially boils down to is an floating array. Can you help me with a formula for a floating array, where the row will be based on the first empty cell in column G and the last row based on the last empty cell in column H, which means from the "New explanation" spreadsheet is row 5-8, and then the array should be K5-K8. The array have to be based on having the same group number in column F
Why, because I need to see if J9, J10, J11, J13 match in K5-K8 and then combine the texts from K5-K8 where they match. However the number of cells is not always 4 in column K as you can see in row 31
    Thanks again
    Henrik
