    returning a value based on drop down menus

    Hello,

    I need help returning a value based on drop down menus indicating the line item and date when it occured. I tried using INDEXMATCH, but I couldn't figure out how to get the date portion to line up since it did not match the array of the other portion.

    I've attached a file below. Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.

    This kind of looks like a homework question ... is it? Because we don't really do homework on the basis that you won't really benefit.

    You've done half of the question. The Index/Match, in this case, requires two matches. The first you have which returns the row from column B, the Line_Items. So, you just need the second MATCH for the date.

    Your formula needs to look like this: =INDEX("the table", MATCH("get the row"), MATCH("get the column"))

    Have a go and come back if you're still struggling.
