VLOOKUP formula does not return expected value. Suspected error in formula. Returns N/A

    Hello

I've attached a mirror image of a workbook im working on, i just removed and replaced data with generic examples.

I am trying to do a vlookup where C4 on the 'MAIN' sheet looks at B4, looks it up in 'names & ID', finds it, and returns the corresponding value in the F column

To be more specific i am expecting 'Customer 112' to be returned.

I swear i have done the formula correctly but for whatever reason it returns N/A.

I'm sure this is a common one and a common mistake.

    Formula used

    =VLOOKUP(B4,'Names & ID'!D2:F323,3,FALSE)

Welcome to the forum! Please take a moment to re-read forum rule #1 and then amend your thread title to something that better explains your problem. Changing your thread title is not optional, which means you must change it. Thanks!

    • Use concise, accurate thread titles.
    • Your post title should describe your problem in detail, not your anticipated solution.
    • Use terms appropriate to a Google search - poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice tell us nothing.
    • Responding to a request to change your thread title by doing so is mandatory.

To change a title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title.

No help to be offered, please, until the OP complies with this request.

    Re: VLOOKUP formula not working

Changes the text you are comparing to a number which is in your vlookup table.

    Re: VLOOKUP formula not working

Your title still is not adequate. Please change it to this:

"VLOOKUP Returning #N/A Error Message - Unable to Work Out Why"

This gives helpers a clue about the issue - do you see?

Once this is done, I will release the response given already.

@ Mjmitch - please read the forum rules regarding NOT responding to a thread where a moderation request is outstanding. Thanks.
