    Index / Match Function

Using a program called smartview, it spits out data in a somewhat odd manner. In column A, it displays name, the problem is each name is assigned 3 rows. In column B, each row has 3 titles, Base, Override, Working. Is it possible to write an Index/Match function, or something similar, that can match a name and the "working" title in column B and match to a specific cell/column.

In the attached screen shot, if i wanted to write an Index/Match function that found "Name 5" and matched it to the "Working" row in column B, and then pulled the date in Column G.

The issue I'm having is that in column A, everything is merged. So So in name 5, its really in row 16, but the working title is in row 18. Not sure if this is even possible, but figured I'd ask.

    Thanks for the help.

    Re: Index / Match Function

If the data structure is consistent, you can add 2 at the end of the Match function.
That way, when Excel finds the correct Name in column A, it will find the value in 2 rows down.

Since "Working" row is always 2 more than where the Name is located, adding 2 will do the trick.

    JHarvey,
Look at the attached file [revised].
Cells E1, E2 have drop down to select Name and function [Base, Override, Working].
Cell G2 will find the Name in column A and then corresponding function in column B and give you the result from column C.

    Here's the formula:
