    Issues with Hyperlink and INDIRECT

    Hi,

Currently working on a spreadsheet that collects data from a few other sheets using INDIRECT/CONCATENATE and I'm trying to use a Hyperlink to open the needed spreadsheets to connect but when I do it doesn't fill in the cells but I open them manually it does. Is there a way to change my formula into a MATCH or something to fix this?

Are the other sheets open or closed? INDIRECT will ONLY work on open sheets.

They are open, If I do it manually it works like I said but If I change anything in the D column to a hyperlink and open the sheets that way it doesn't formulate the cells.

As you can see below it works without hyperlinks,

So how is the hyperlink set up? Can you post samples?

I'm not clear how this differs significantly to the previous thread - isn't it the same issue?

Hi Ali, sorry if I explained it badly, the previous issue was the Formula didn't work, this issue is Hyperlinks don't populate the formula when you open the file. Wondering if I could change the formula to make it do so into a "MATCH" maybe.

I must be missing the point here. If it works with the filename as a piece of text, what's the intent behind trting to make it a hyperlink??

I am working with people that think a URL is a band from the 80's. Just trying to make it as easy for them as possible to open the sheet. It's okay if you can't do it I can ask somewhere else :D

If you do ask somewhere else, please don't forget to post cross-post links both here and wherever else you ask (see this forum's rules).

The implication of your last comment is that the help here isn't good enough and that there are people elsewhere who will know better: I am sure this is not how you intended it to be taken.

It was more to appeal to their competitive side. Trying to make them prove they can do it. Honestly I can do it the other way but I thought I'd ask you guys if you could help.

Re: Issues with Hyperlink and INDIRECT

Please don't quote whole posts, especially when you are responding to the one immediately preceding your own - it's just clutter. It's OK to quote if you are responding to a post out of sequence, but limit quoted content to a few relevant lines that makes clear to whom and what you are responding. Thanks!
