Need half of 1 to show in cell as 50%

If I have 1 job open and one job

Thank you,

Original Text of Post (reinstated by mod):

If I have 1 job open and one job closed and they recieve 2 floor inspections. Shouldnt it be 50% completion?
But when I divide 1/1 and change to percentage it's 100% completion when it should say 50%. How would I do this. Sorry i'm sure this is simple but I can't figure it out.
Any help would be great.

Re: Percentage %

Please take a moment to re-read forum rule #1 and then amend your thread title to something that better explains your problem. Changing your thread title is not optional, which means you must change it. Thanks!

• Use concise, accurate thread titles.
• Your post title should describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.
• Use terms appropriate to a Google search - poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice tell us nothing.
• Responding to a request to change your thread title by doing so is mandatory.

To change a title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title.

No help to be offered, please, until the OP complies with this request.

Thank you,
Sorry, but your question really doesnt make any sense. Perhaps you hit "POST" before you finished typing?

When you fix your title, please also try and explain again what you want.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Re: Need half of 1 to show in cell as 50%

I've edited the opening post and put back the original text. I have no idea why the OP removed it.

The OP's basic maths is suspect!

1/1=1=100%
1/2=0.5=50%

Excel 2016 (Windows) 32 bit
G
H
I
8
1
0.5
50.00%
Sheet: Sheet1

Excel 2016 (Windows) 32 bit
H
I
8
=G8/2
=H8
Sheet: Sheet1

Cell I8 has had the precentage formatting applied to it from the drop-down menu on the Home ribbon.

What if I wanted to include jobs assigned and jobs closed, how would you enter this in Excel? For other words in D2 it will now become 75% instead of 50%.

Try: SUM(A2,C2)/SUM(A2:C2)
