To count total numbers recorded by group total

Hi. I need some on this table. On Sheet1, i have an attendance record taken twice daily in the morning and in the afternoon. The names on column D are grouped in column c. On sheet2 i need the total numbers indicated as present to be counted as per group numbers. I have a sample on sheet2 to show expected results.

hi samba. i have another question. What if i split the morning and the afternoon from the dates and placed the AM and the PM them a row above the dates. How will i be able to amend the formula.

The column header doesn't affect the formula at #2 unless you change the column order.
