Mileage worksheet help

Afternoon all,

I am wanting to add figures together from different points on a spreadsheet and require your assistance please.

I am requiring a formula to add mileage from the same vehicle over several dates and show it in a separate sheet.

So here is an example matrix

Date Vehicle Mileage
07/08/2018 33104 4
07/08/2018 33105 6
08/08/2018 33104 5
08/08/2018 33107 7
09/08/2018 33104 8
10/08/2018. 33106. 10
10/08/2018. 33108. 9


The result I would like is for a list of vehicles to show in a separate sheet, so on the next sheet within the workbook, the current list of vehicles would already be added in and within the next cell the total mileage total, and when I add each days mileage the sheet refreshes.

Is there a formula out there that can help me please?

Do you already have a list of vehicles in the other sheet?

Are you likely to want this for a particular month, or year?

Hi Pete, I will create a list in the 3 columns going down vertically , and all I need to do I add up totals for each vehicle

You can use SUMIF for that, along these lines:

=SUMIF(Sheet1!B:B,A2,Sheet1!C:C)

where I've assumed that your existing sheet is called Sheet1, and your data is in columns A to C. I've also assumed that you have a list of vehicles starting in A2 of the second sheet, and that you place the formula in B2 of that sheet. Copy it down as required, to give you a total for each vehicle listed in column A.
