Page Breaks are Printing on my document - how can I suppress printing them?

My worksheet is printing page break lines at bottom and right side of each page. I have defined the borders on the document that I want to print. I have de-selected the "Show Page Breaks" option and that seems to only remove them from the screen but they still appear when I print the worksheet.

Please let me know if there is an option to suppress printing the page breaks.

    Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of "page break lines" that show up on paper when you print. You said you "defined the borders". In Excel terminology, "borders" are the lines that border cells. So if you have defined borders you are going to see those lines on your printout.

For more specific help please attach your file. The paper clip icon does not work for attachments. Instead, under the text box where you type your reply click the Go Advanced button. On the next screen scroll down and click on Manage Attachments, which will show a pop-up window to Select and Upload a file. Then close the window.

    Thanks for your help.

I have attached two documents. The excel sheet with the issue and a pdf which I printed from the excel sheet that will show you the lines. My excel worksheet is for a tournament and I have put cell borders on a large number of cells. The printing of the page breaks disrupts the whole purpose of the sheet.

To clarify, the page break lines are shown as dotted lines on the screen but print out as a solid line on the printout.

I uploaded the 2 documents but I don't see them - I'm thinking they will appear after I post this reply. If not I'll try to re-attach.

What you are seeing are not "page break lines" they are row and column headings.

Go to Page Layout > Print Titles, select the Sheet tab, and uncheck "Row and Column Headings."

    Hey there,

If you go to the page-layout tab in the ribbon, you will be able to find "Sheet options". You currently have "Headings -> Print" checked, if you uncheck this it works fine for me when i transform it to PDF.

That does get rid of the lines which I thought are page breaks however it also suppresses printing the rows and columns which I selected intentionally. If there is no other way I can work around it but I'd like to have rows and columns printing but without the line where page breaks occur.

    Thanks again for your help

Thanks again. I may have to do it that way, but I intentionally set Row and Column Headings and would like to print them but not the right and bottom lines on each page?

If there is not a way I will have to do without the row/col headers, but it diminishes the effectiveness of my project.

You could add a row and the top and column on the left that mimic the row and column headings, and then use Row/Columns to repeat at top/left.

Re: Page Breaks are Printing on my document - how can I suppress printing them?

Hmm, that's an interesting thought - It would be difficult to do at the point I'm at. This worksheet is to run a double elimination tournament and I've put information on each match that directs the person entering results to the cell to enter the next match for instance - in cell I have the following info: "WS:98 (S24/J239)" which means it is for match #98 on the winners side then in parenthesis the S24 designates winners name advances to cell S24 and the loser goes to J239 on the losses side. By adding a row and column as you suggest I would have to change all codes to point to the column and row changes.

If I knew I was going to have this issue I could have used your suggestion and may still wind up doing so if no other alternative exists. Thanks so much for your suggestion
