    COUNTIF Function Criteria

I have Columns D and E filled with 1s and 2s from rows 3:34. The 1s and 2s are random and don't follow any sort of pattern. I am trying to sum the number of cells in the E-column that are the same as their D-column counterpart. For example, if E15 and D15 both equal 1, E15 will be included in the total. I am using the COUNTIF function to count the cells. This is the formula I'm using: =COUNTIF(E3:E34,E3:E34=$D3:$D34) However, this formula continues to produce 0. Could someone point me in the right direction with this formula, as I'm not sure what it is I'm doing wrong. I've attached an excel file with the example.

Modify the formula and enter it as an array formula:

This is an array formula. After typing in the formula, do not hit ENTER--hit CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER. You have done it correctly if the formula in the formula box has {braces} around it. You cannot type in the braces; they are just an indicator that it is an array formula.

    Duplicate of thread https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...-formulas.html

Do you see that bright yellow banner at the top of the page?

The one that says please read the forum rules? The rules that apply to everyone using the forum.

Where it says 'Do not open more than one thread per issue'!
