2nd dependent drop down list set up

    Hi!
I was wondering if someone here can help me. I have a workbook with a drop list that depends on another and it works fine, but I need to set up another drop down list that depends on the first 2 and I have seen a hundred of videos but no luck so far. I tried to attached the file but I couldn't so I here is the link:

Try to avoid using merged cells, (like you have so many of), they cause all sorts of problems with formulas.

See if you can apply the attached file to your needs.

Re: 2nd dependent drop down list set up

Hi! Thanks for your help but it does not work for me because in your example the subtype 2 shows all the options and if you see the example I sent I need to show only one of the 2 options. In your example the lists are simple but in mine the lists are long with too much information so I could not make it work. However thanks a lot for trying!

No, ST2 only shows the options for Mammal/Feline Yes...Lion Yes/Tiger.

To adapt this you your file, you will need to create a named range for EACH suptype2, and give it a range name that matches the selection from subtyp1

Re: 2nd dependent drop down list set up

I understand that , but that is my problem , the names. In your example when you click feline it calls lion and tiger because the name range for them is feline. In my example it is not just one word it is this: LAFS.6.RI.1.1 Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. so when I click on _6th it calls [I]LAFS.6.RI.1.1 Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text 7 other choices because the name range is _6th. I am stuck with the next step because I don;t know how to name it or how to do it. Can you check if you can make it work on my example if it is not too much trouble for you?

If I understand what you are attempting then this may help.
I changed the standard names i.e. 6.1 to LAFS.6.RI.1.1 etc.
The data validation for cell F6 reads: =INDIRECT(LEFT(F5,13))

I try different way, you can choose Grade from E1 and Standard/Learning Goal: from A6
then target will populates according to Grade and Learning Goal.
