Vlookup when list is inconsistant length and compare list is not exact

Hello All,

I've attached a sample of data I wish to create a vlookup with.

The table array will have a partial (of inconsistant length and format) of the lookup value.

Using the LEFT function works for some of the problem but the inconsistant length is causing me problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not entirely clear what you're expected answer is, and/or if lookup value always contains first n chars....
