    Sumif formula pulling data from different sheet/columns

    Hi,

    A complete Excel newbie here. I was tasked with figuring out how much was spent on each category in column C of the Summary tab in the Spring 2018 pulling data from the OTPS Expense Tracker Sheet (column B). I tried but failed. Can someone tell me how to set up a Sumif formula that will give me the relevant info? THANKS!

    Try this in F4 and copied down:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    It works like this:

    Think of it like filtering data and summing up a column in the remaining rows.

    You will need to amend your data slightly to get the right values. For example, in your data you have "Seminar and Skills" but on your table sheet you have "Seminar & Skills". Also "Student Activities" is completely missing from your table. That could be deliberate but we really don't know enough about the project to be able to say for sure.

    We all started somewhere. I wish I was half as competent as some on this forum! (and I've made a living through spreadsheets for nearly two decades!)
